Well I just completed the Great Mass. Getaway, a 150 mile bike ride from Boston to Provincetown Mass. The ride is a great fundraiser benefitting the National MS foundation. I wasn't sure I was going to do the ride this year because I have no cartilage in either hip and am in the cue for hip-resurfacing in the fall. However, bike riding is actually the least painful activity as it is not load bearing and synovial fluid, (human WD-40) is secreted where the cartilage would be when I ride. So after I enthusiastically and successfully recruited a new rider, "Amanda the Fast" for our team, (The Polar Type Bears), I realized that I had to step up to the bike.

So as this is my first blog I'm gonna keep it short but let me say that doing the ride this weekend was so important to me physically and mentally and it proves again that when you give of yourself you get more in return.
